IMPERIAL.
An interim scraping took place on Friday last, when 158 ozs. of amalgam was obtained, tho quantity of stone passed through being 94 tons. There yet remains about 7 tons of blanketings to be treated, and clue regard being had to the. fact that the berdans were only working one and a-half days and that the plates were all new and would therefore absorb a considerable quantity of gold in " curing," the return is in every way satisfactory. Indeed it may be said that few maiden crushings in the district have shown up so well. Mr Raithby lias been placed in charge of the battery, and will henceforth have the full conduct of the crushing. In the mine everything looks remai'kably well. The main level north is in 175 feet, and for the last 30 feet the reef has been very regular. The stopes show from 2 to 3 feet of stone, and there seems nothing in the way of the Company crushing some thing like 1,000 tons right off
