WELCOME.
In the mine hands aro employed breaking stone from the south end of the I reef, between the intermediate and No. 5 level ; preparations are also being made in No. G level, for the escape of the smoke and fumes for the winding engine that is about to be placed in the chamber. Provision is about to be made for the reception of air compressor and receivers, which the company have ordered from Victoria, and which are expected to arrive shortly, and it is the intention of the company to use two of Naylor's improved rock drills to expedite tho futura working of the mine below No. (i level. At the battery the machinery is working very smoothly and everything is conducted in a manner which reflects credit upon the battery manager. The contract for the erection of the extra bcrdans appears to be going on somewhat slowly, but doubtless the late bad weather and want of material has retarded.
