REEFTON RAILWAY LEAGUE.
The usual weekly meeting of the Executive Committee of the League was hold at Mr Hankin's office, on Friday evening last. Present Vessrs Breunan (chair), Wise, Gardner, Hindmarah, Oxley, Lee, Campbell, Beeclie and Collings. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence from the Undcr-Sec-rctary of Public Works and from the Secretary Chamber of Commerce Christchurch was read and received. Considerable discussion ensued upon the correspondence from the Public ■ orks Department. Mr Brennan moved — - c That the Secretary communicate with the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, asking that body to request the Government to include amongst the other duties of the Royal Commission, that of travelling over the various proposed railway routes, including the Cannibal Gorge, and in addition to their own observations to take evidence at all the principal centres of population, in the exercise of which the Heefton Railway League will afford them all requirements necessary to facilitate a complete and thorough inspection of the latter route. Seconded by Mr Wise and carried. It was further resolved that the Secretary forward a copy of the above resolution to the Industrial Association, Christchurch. Moved by Mr Lee, seconded by Mr | Oxley, and carried, that Messrs Weston and Petrie, M.H.R's. be written to, requesting their support and influence with the Government, in effecting the objects of the foregoing resolution. Moved by Mr Gardner, " That a copy of the above resolutions be forwarded to the Mayor of Gveymouth, soliciting their co-operation." Seconded by Mr Campbell and carried. Proposed by Mr Leo. That the Secretary prepare a statement of expenditure of the League up to next meeting, including all expenses and salary. Seconded by Mr Campbell, and carried. The following gentlemen ngr;v ; 3 to canvass the respective districts for subscriptions in aid of the League funds. Veefton.— Messrs Brennan and Lee. Black's Point and Crush ington, — Mr J. Connolly.
