'ihe official list of awards at the Bordeaux Wine Exhibition shows that Victoria takes 9 first, fifteen second and nine third prizes, together with five honorable mentions. New South Wales takes 5 first, nine second, and ! eleven third prizes and honorable i' mentions. South Australia, 2 first, 4 ■ second and three third prizes, and five honorable mentions. British troops are now beginning to arrive from Egypt, and banquets are being organised in their honor at i several places. Alexandria, October 19. i The scheme for the organisation of ' the Egyption army, which has been ' drawn out by Baker Pasha, been finally approved of by the Egyptian Government. ; It has Leen agreed by the Egyptian I Government that Arabi and his as- ■ sociates should, be allowed the services of English counsel on their trial, which will be accordingly forthwith commenced. ! Lond n, October 18. Arrived. — Ship Invercargill, from Port Chalmers, July 15. Tenders for the Auckland Harbor ! Board LI 50,000, 5 per cent loan were opened to-day. The amount offered is L 345,500, the tenders ranging from LI 00 to LI 05, the average being LI 01 12s. 2d. Tenders at LI 01 10s 6d and upwards will receive in full, and those ' at LlOl 10s will receive 75 per cent. Sydney, October 21. The ship Northampton, 1,161 tons, bound for this port with immigrants has struck on a reef off Port Hacking, and is now being towed into Botany Bay, in a leaking state. It has transpired that the English Government have decided to submit the plans which have been formed by Baker Pasha for the organisation of the new Egyptian Army, to the European Powers. The Right Hon Childers - ecretary of State for War, has written a letter in the course of which he declares that the recent campaign in Egypt has proved the necessity of the military reforms which have been effected during the past two years, and at the same time has disclosed a weak point in the organisation of the army when subjected to the strain of ajtual warfare. A portion of the cargo of frozen meat, ex Chiinborazo, realised s|d per pound. That shipped at Melbourne brought 6j*d. SIDNEY, 20. Exceptionally heavy rains have occurred in the south. In the Richmond River district the rain-fall during last night amounted to six inches.
