Serious floods have occurred at Burregurra, on the river of that name, 84 miles S. W. of Melbourne. Three persons have been drowned by the inundation in their homes. The following horses have been sprrctebod for the Melbourne Cup : — Aide-de-champ, Attache, Bryan O'Lyn, Gardinia, Hobart, Ironmaster, Mistake, Nautilius, Proctor, Prattle and Rupert. The betting is unchanged, with the exception of Drummer, whose price has declined owing to an accident to 100 tol. Sydney, October 24. A military Commission has been appointed to inquire into the cause of the defects m Inch were apparent in the army hospital and transport services during the recent operations of the British troops in Egypt. Paris, October 22. A treaty has beon concluded between Greece and Tunis under terms of which France assumes the responsibility of the Tunisian debt. A judical tribunal is appointed and a yearly allowance of £28,000 is accounted to the Bey. Alexandria, October 22. In consequence of witnesses having been examined by special commission ; at Cah-o in the absence of Arabi and his associates, or their legal advisers, the enquiry before the Commission will be re-opened on Saturday next.
