COUNTY COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the Inangahua County Council, was held at the Council Chambers on Wednesday, October 25th, at 8 p.m. Mr Feohan being the only mender present, adjourned tho meeting until . 9 p.m. I The Council resumed at fl.lo. p.m. Present :— Mr P. Brennan (chair), aud Messrs Byrne, Ribot, Foehnn, Pattewuti and Craig. ; The minutes of the previous meeting • were read and confirmed on the motion of ; Mr Byrne, seconded by Mr Feehan, the enrrespondance sent was then read and j received, and was dealt with as follows : — From the Under Secretary Goldfields, acknowledging recept of letter from the Chairman. From the Under Secretary of Public Works Department, re Crown and Native Lands Bating Act. From Roxburgh and Caird, asking ; Council to extend ll;;.- Crushington track i to (he Lan key's creek track. ! From F. Walker, asking the Council to \ make some repairs to that portion of i Marina Road, to Rocky creek, as the said • was in disrepair. Proposed by Mr Pat- ' 'uM-i'in, that a man be sent from Reefton, : to repair the Mai nia track, aud that he ' ia!;-.; his instructions from tha Engineer, ■.-.or/mdod by Mr Feohan, and carried. .From tho Secretary, to Treasury, for- : iv-jsrJiupr revenue for the month of Sup- ; itmivjr. J From David M 'Gee asking the Council to make a road to Morri jig's. From Under Secretary for Goldfields, | stating that a certain vote is to be distributed in the proportion of £2, to £1, for carrying out County works. From Mrs Danks, asking tho Council for a remission of rates due on her property. Propo.vd hy Mr Byrne that the application of Mrs Dank's for a remission of rates be not acceded to, seconded by Mr Patterson, and carried. From Mr Archer, asking the Council for a refund of his license fee. Proposed by Mr By run that a refund of £4 be made Mr Archer as requested, seconded by Mr Feehan and carried. From Mr John Rait, asking for a refund of his license fee. Proposed by Mr Patterson, that the sum of £0 be refunded Mr i.'ait, seconded by ?ilr '.ihet, and carried. [ From Fire Brigade, asking the Council ; to grant a weekly subsidy of 1)3, to enable the brigade to pay the night-watchman. Proposed by Mr Byrne, and seconded by Mr Feehan, that tho request contained in the letter be complied with, carried. j Proposed by Mr Byrne, that the T':ngil noer be instructed to prepare specifications and call for tenders, to close on thu Bth ovembor, at 12 o'clock, for the construction of the road referred to in Mr Roxburgh's letter. Seconded by Mr ieehan, and carried. Proposed by Mr Feehan, that the | Engineer be instructed to invite tenders I for an assistant overseer, for a term of G j months. Applications to be received up to November Bth.. at a weekly salary of £4 Seconded by Mr Byrne, and carried. Proposed by Mi- Byrne, that the Engineer be instructed to report on the best j route for a road, from Devil's Creek to j Merrijig's, and Big River. Such report I to be laid on the table at the next meeting Jof the Council. Seconded by Mr Feehan and carried. The correspondence as read was then received. Proposed by Mr Byrne, that the Engij neor be instructed to call for tenders for a 1 track, commencing at the termination of i the present track to Big River, and terI initiating at the Big River Company's I claim. Tenders to close on November ', Sth., at noon. Seconded by Mr Patterson, '; avid carried. j Proposed by Mr Byrne, that the EngiI neor be instructed to call tenders for j •.'ravelling, and necessary repairs to the j short track to Boatman's. Tenders to ! cl(,=ti> on Sth November. Seconded by Mr Feehan, and carried. Proposed by Mr Feehan, that tho Engineer bo instructed to call for tenders for the construction of a horse track from Capleeton to Larry's Creek, as soon as possible. Seconded by Mr Byrne and carried. Proposed by Mr Brennan, seconded by Mr Byrne, that a rate of one shilling in the £, upon the values of the rateable property as appearing on the Valuation Koll for the time being in force in the County of Inangahua, and the same is hereby made, and that such rate bo for one year, commencing on the Ist day of October, 1882, and ending on the 30th day of September, 1883, and that such rate be payable in one sum, on the 26th clay of October 1883.— Carried Tenders were then opened as follows. road from buller road to inangahua RIVER. £ S D R.
