A Madras paper says : — " A shocking occurrence has taken place here. Mr A. N. Mosa, the local agent of Messrs Bn tier, Palmer and Co., winemerchants went to the sea near his resid Mice to have a swim about nine o'clock in the evening, as he had been in the habit of doing for some time. His wife stood watching him from the beach. He swam from the shore and back again twice, and started for a third swim, when, to his wife's intense horror, he was dragged away presumably by a shark. Her cries attracted the attention of some natives who were near and who immediately ran up. They could do nothing to help Mr Mosa, who had disappeared, but they prevented Mrs Mosa from rushing into the sea. Later particu'as are to the effect that Mr Mosa entered the water about 9.30 and in a few minutes his wife heard him calling out but could not catch tho words. lm?st immediately afterwards he a pierc'n ( shriek and disappeared, ''ewas an expert swimmer, and there is little doubt that he was carried off by a shark. 1 1 is age was about thirty-four.
