Five of the prisoners who confessed to participation in the murder of the Joyce family at Mantramasa, and were duly found guilty and ientenced to death, have now had their sentences commuted to imprisonment for life. The death sentence will he carried out in the case of the other prisoners.
Intelligence is to hand from Ireland that despite the prohibition issued, a meeting was held yesterday at Loughrea, county of Galway. The second warehouse occupied by Sibber & Fleming, which was Jburried down on Saturday night, and formed part of the block situated in Woodsstreet, between Addle-street and Wallstreet, was the scene of the conflagration on the Bth. A fresh fire broke out among the still smouldering ruins the next day, and spread rapidly, and before they could be got under the adjoining building and its contents were completely destroyed. News has been received here that the steam collier Plutus has been wrecked on the coast, about Bix miles from Shoalhaven. All on board weae saved. The vessel lies in a dangerous position, and is expected to be a total wreck.
