UNITED VICTORY.
Operations at this mine are being prosecuted energetically, and the battery is kept constantly employed. The late dry weather caused a considerable reduction in the flow of water in the creeks, and in consequence there is at present only sufficient available to drive seven head of stamps. In the mine there is the usual average thickness of reef in all the faces, viz., about 16 in., and the quality of the stone being broken out is of a very superior character, gold being easily discernible in most pieces examined. There are at present nine faces of quartz open, viz., three north, three south of the main pass over the intermediate level, and three south over No. 1 leveL No, 1 level is now being continued south. There is no quartz in the face, the reef having taken a "jump," but it will no doubt be picked up in a day or two. The mine is now thoroughly well opened up, and the battery can be constantly employed for any length of time.
