The Inangahua Times, PUBLISHED TRI- WEEKLY WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 17, 1833.

The half-yearly meeting of shareholders in the Gladstone Extended Company was held at Mr Lee's Office, on Saturday evening last, Mr Thorburn being in the chair, when the reports aud balance sheet were read and adopted. Some discussion arose upon the question of the propriety of abolishing director's fees, Mr J. Trennery and others favoring the discontinuance of the payment. The matter was eventually pnt to the vote, when it was decided, by a small majority, that the fees should be paid. The time of the Magistrate's Court was occupied for several hours yesterday afternoon with the action Overend v. Lynch, a claim for trespass. The parties are adjoining farmers on the Upper Inangahua, and after hearing evidence at great length, His Worship dismissed the case. Another action, Overend v. Watson, of a like nature, was next called on, and resulted in a verdict for defendant. The Warden's Court opened on Mon, day morning last, before Mr. Warden Revell. The list of cases was unusually heavy, and although the Court sat until about 10 o'clock last night, the list was still unfinished, and as Mr Revell ha3 to appear as a witness in the District Court," Westport, to-morrow morning, much of the business had to ba adjourned until the next sitting. A largely attended and very enthusiastic meeting was held at Boatman's on Monday evening last, for the purpose of deciding upon the steps to be taken to get up a two days race meeting in M'Giuley's paddock on the 17th and 19th March next. It was resolved that a two , days meeting be held on the days named, and a subscription list was opened, when a large sum was at once subscribed, and it is fully expected that £200 will be collected, which with .the sale of privileges, . entrances etc., will enable the club to offer a programing of £500 at least. Collectors were appointed io canvass the district and report in one week. Tiie St. Patrick's ..meeting will be held in M'Giuley's paddock, but steps were ordered to be taken to secure a race-course in Boatman's, and a site has been selected in Mr Boardman's paddock. The club's preliminary advertisement appears in our advertising columns.
