V CkESUS. : Friday, February 2. ■: A discovery of considerable importance not only to the owners of this property, but also to the holders of the adjoining leases, was made .. in the early part of the week. Whilst the timber men were sliding logs down the sideling they came "upon' a body of quartz, about eight inches thick,'.'[outcropping oiV'tlib surface. / The stone ia about 300 feet north from tho mouth of No. 1 level, and lies between 60 and 100 feet to the westward of the present line •of USe'l^f. .It is about 200 feet further n6rth iihan any stono yet found on the lease, its course being the same as that of the reef upon which the company is 1 ' at. present driving, with an easterly underly.. A piece of the stone upon being crushed gave a prospoet of gold very similar to that obtained from the reef at present being worked. In No. 2 level, the driving npon the reef lias now attained a distance" of 70 feet, the stone continuUig. of tho usual thickness.
