In the E.M, Court to-day a firm of printers, two photographers, and a bookseller were charged with a breach of the Copyright Act in having sold photographs marked copyright registered. After a long correspondence between Mr Sutton, M.H.R., as chairman of the hospital, and the Government re the maintenance of the institution, the Colonial Secretary has forwarded a cheque for £150 claimed by the Hospital Committee during the nine months ending 31st December. . Auckland, Feb. 27. The proprietors of the Onehunga Iron-works have sent to America for a plant for nine additional furnaces, to be erected before the end of the year to smelt Iron-sand. Some diamond if erous rock was brought from Eaglan by Courtney and Douglas, diamond prospecting party, which was last evening . placed in a leaden vessel containing liydrophonic acid, and sealed up, was opened to-night in the presence of witnesses. Four diamonds were taken out of the crosstots, three very small and one large, three-quarters of a carat in weight, and valued by Mr. Courtney at £2 10s. There are strong suspicions of foul play, and the mother lifts been arres.ed. The inquest will be hold to-morrow, March 1. The name of the mother of the child found drowned on Tuesday is Phoebe Voitch. She is a peculiar looking woman, 25 years of age, and Avas brought up at the E.M Court to-day on a charge of wilful murder, and remanded. The inquest is to be held 'to-morrow. Taueanga, March 1.
