I accept the handsome requisition you have sent me as an indication that you desire as your representative in Parliament a Colonial politician of broad views and long experience, and on that understanding I have much pleasure in acceding to your request. After the compliment you have paid me I think I ought to lose no time in making your acquaintance personally. I propose, therefore, to visit you in the course of tha next few days, and to spend some time among you, in order that you may know what sort of a man I am, and I may , know as much as possible about your part of the Colony, your interests, and sentiments with regard to public affairs. As I shall address you at all the centres r>i population,' I will keep what I have to say about politics until I meet you face to face. IN PURSUANCE of " The Registration of Elections Act 1881," I, HENRY LUCAS, Returning Officer for tbe Electoral District of Inangahua, do hereby give notice, that by virtue of a WRIT bearing date the THIRTEENTH DAY of APRIL, 1883, under the hand of the Clerk of the Writs, an ELECTION will be held ior the RETURN of ONE QUALIFIED PERSON to serve as a member for the said Electoral District, and that the NOMINATION of CANDIDATES will take place at the COURT-HOUSE Reefton, at noon, on the SEVENTH day of MAY, 1888; and that the POLL if necessary will be TAKEN at the several polling-places of the said District, on the FOURTEENTH day of • MAY, 1888.
