A MINER'S REASONS WHY.
(To the Editor, Inangahua Times.) Sir, — I beg to give you the following reasons why, in my opinion, every miner in this electorate, from Larry's Creek to Brunnerton, should vote against Mr Shaw at the coming election : — Because he is a lawyer, and there are already too many lawyers in the House ; for once in a lawyer would sell his political soul to get a portfolio. Because he is the representative of the wealthy class as against the working class. Because he believes that there is no such thing as poverty in this country, and that every working man is earning more than it takes to keep him. Because he has_got j^^jpJßinions_pjtJ,the, — — Education" question.™' Because he belongs body and soul to the present Government, and would be bound to do their bidding against the interests of the Goldfields. Because he would be a political featherweight in the House and would require at least three years schooling before he could do any good. Because his lavish promises prove his insincerity, for if he had any care for his political reputation, he could never promise so much. Because he is ready to promise anything and everything as long as he gets in. Because the present Ministry are certain to be turned out of office next session, and then where will Mr Shaw and all his fine promises be ? For these, and many other reasons, I think every miner should oppose Mr Shaw's return. In my next I will endeavour to state some of the reasons why they should vote for Mr Wakefreld. I am etc. Miner. Boatman's, May Ist, 1883.
