REWARD TEE POET.
(To the Editob, Inangahua Times.) Sib. —l see by Saturday's paper that the muses are abroad, and poetry is flowing like water from a mountain. « « Spectator " comes with his beautiful poem on •Wakefield's banquet, and when he thinks of it Wa spirit is stirred within him ; his mouth waters, and his eyes fill with tears because he was, not there to give a recitation of his own composition. What a splendid < chance he missed of being lauded to. the skies, Oh ! ye poets of the past ; ye are totally eclipsed for "Spectator" hath spoken. Listen O Earth and be astonished ye Heavens, and ye inhabitants of the earth read it, rest not until you have seen the poem. See how beautifully • it comes inrhyme. And ye "remaining " roosters of Reefton; crow loudly the praises of your poet. And since poets, hare not been rewarded in their life time ' as they ought to < have been* perhaps ' "the majority" will meet on the first of i April next, and present Spectator with a i suitable reward in the form of* a Leather • medal,, and may he live long to wear it • as a badge of honor.
