The chamber at the foot of the shaf has now been quite completed, and th< drive to connect with the reef has beei carried in a distance of 25ft, thi ground being easy, dry, and the countn is very likely-looking. Mr R. J Johnston is now engaged in an un derground survey of the mine, for thi purpose of ascertaining the exact dis tance at which the underlay of the ree will be cut
