• New Guinea is about the same size as New South Wales (which contains 809,175 square miles), nearly three times the size of all the islands of New Zealand together, and nearly three and a-half times as large as Victoria. The Christchurch Press says : — " Never were a party worse managed than the Ministerial party last session, and it ill becomes the Colonial Treasurer now to lay on them the blame, of disorganisation, disorders, delays, and shortcomings, which werß really due more to his defects as a leader < than to theirs as a party.
