(prom our own correspondent. ) GISROTJNE, 26. Matthew Price, late KM. at Gisborne, died this morning at the residence of his daughter, (Mrs Mathews) the bank of New Zealand, aged 66 years. The deceased on his retirement from the Gisborne Court, was appointed R.M. for Ashburton, bub it was thought from the precaious state of his health that he would never enter on his duties there. His end has undoubtedly been hastened through exposure when burnt out of his lodgings a few weeks ago, at the time Green's house was destroyed. He was much respected as an upright straightforward Magistrate. - Christchurch, 26. A practiced digger returned from the alleged goldfield at the 90-mile beach to-day. He asserts that the whole thing is a delusion, and that a man cannot make anything like " tucker." Auckland, 25. At a meeting of the Union Sash and Door Company's directors no decision was arrived at as to the reinstatement of the Board men out of employment. A number of workmen lost their tools, and are deserving of aid. Sydney Tawhariga has been ordered to pay 6s. per week for his two children. He is endeavoring to get them into the Industrial School.
