GOLDEN TREASURE.
During the past month the distance made in the level to connect the main shaft with the line of reef was 70fb. bringing the total length driven up to 100 ft. While this work has been in progress the manager has been making ready in the shaft for shipping the cages, one of which has been running for some time, and the other will be got in working order, by Monday next. The winding facilities of the mine will., then be complete. The driving just at present is rather hard, the formation being very close, but good head-way continues to be made. The workings are dry. Mr Johnston has completed the underground survey, and given the exact course and distance at which ' the underlay of the re_ef will be met with. From tlie data thus furnished the company should be on stone in about a couple of months time, but j the drive will be' carried some distance j across the reef before the uprise is i started and which is required chiefly for ventilation. When this work is accomplished the mine will be splendidly opened up, and the height of stone overhead will provide years, of work for the battery.
