The appointment of Dr. Barry to the Metropolitan Bishopric of Sydney, New South Wales, has received official confirmation. In the House of Commons to-day Gladstone announced that in the course of a recent note regarding the progress of military and judicial reforms in Egypt, Lord Duifßrin reported that the re organisation of the Egyptian army was now nearly complete. The reconstruction of the civil police force had, however, proved a more difficult matter, and was in a more backward condition, and that a fair body of judges had been secured for the administration of justice in the Native Law Courts. In the House of Commons last night a Bill, providing regulations for preventing the spread of cholera within the City of London, in the event of an outbreak of the disease occurring, was finally passed. . .VJADRir, 7. The revolutionary agitation, which for some days past has been actively manifested at Badajoz and in the surrounding districts, is now rapidly subsiding, and tranquillity has been restored. It is not expected that any further outbreak of disloyalty will occur at the present time. Capetown, 7. Reports have been received here from Zululand to the effect that Cetewayo is still alive, and not killed at Ulundi, as previously stated. The rumor is, however distrusted, and has not yet received any reliable confirmation. Received August 9fch 12.40. p.m. Alexandria 8. The cholera epidemic continues to spread in an alarming manner in this city, but accounts to hand from Cairo and elsewhere state that the disease is greatly decreased, and hopes are entertained that its further spread has been completely checked. Berlin 8. The meeting which has been arranged between Emperor William and Emperor Francis Joseph, will take place at Ischil, in Upper Austria, and" not at Gastein, as first announced. St. Petersburgh, 8. A bomb was exploded to-day in a j street in this city, but although there j were a number of people about at the time, no one was injured. The perpetrator of the outrage were not detected. • Adelaide, 9. In the Legislative Assembly last night, a motion by Ward in favor of uniting in the general action of the Colonies in regard to New Guinea and New Hebrides, was rejected on division. The motion was opposed by the Government, but at the same time Bray, the Premier, announced that he had accepted the invitation of Victoria to join in the proposed Conference on the annexation question.
