• The Russian gold mines last year produced £7,300,000 worth of the precious ore. Under the title of "Land sold by the inch," the New York Herald states :— " A strip of land only eight mc'.ieswide, and lying between Nos 9 md 11, Pme street, was bought for 5 )00 dollar by Alexander Duncan by trustees for John J.
