The Inangahua Times, PUBLISHED TRI- WEEKLY. MONDAY, OCTOBER 15, 1883.

The time is approaching when, if Eeefton is to be represented at all at the coming Industrial Exhibition at Christchurch, a move should be made in the matter. We learn that the applications for space ,are largely in excess of what the Exhibition Committee expected, and that unless we are up and dofng we shall be left out in the cold. A good deal has been said in disparagement of the quality of Reef ton coal, and here then is a capital chance of having it weighed in compai ison with the production of other parts of the Colony. Coal will no doubt be a leading nxhi it on the occasion, and the award of the exhibi; o i jurors would be worth a good deal wheel the day comes for reviving the railway agitation. It is equally important that our timber resources should be

represented, for it may be depended ujon that other West Coast towns will not be behindhand in this respect It is not necessary to ran over the list of desirable exhibits, for they will no doubt suggest themselves at once, but we shall certainly be wanting greatly in our duty to ourselves and the district if we fail to take advantage of

the opportunity which offers, of bringing them into Colonial notice. The County Council, as the custodian f the interest of the community, ougi t to take the matter in hand, and the meeting of ratepayers called for tins week would be perhaps a convei en opportunity of broaching the sub,e t.
