MINING NEWS.
[From our Mising Reporter] Satuhday, October 28. Nearly fifteen hundred ounces of amalgam is the result of the past weeks' crushing from the four companies — Keep-it-Dark, Fiery Cross, Globe, and Oriental. This, it must be admitted, is, in the parlance of the hour, " not to be sneezed at." The Fiery Cross Extended return is especially good, and, except by the Welcome, has hardly been exceeded in recent times. The Keep-it Dark also figures up capitally, hut of course includes the contents of the stamper boxes for the fortnight. The Globe, for & beginning, has do'oe ! remarkably well, and there is no doubt whatever, that it may now be ranked amongst our payable ventures. The Oriental return is hardly so good this week, but with larger crushing power than is at present available there is no reason to distrust the ultimate success of the undertaking. The following are the battery returns for the past week : — Fiery Cross Extended— 6olozs of amalgam, from 1 0 tons of stone. Keep- it-Dark. 6170za of amalgam (inclusive of contents of boxes) from 189 tons. Globe. 2')sozs <>f fcmalgam from 180 tons of stone. Oriental.— 6ioz s of amalgam for the week.
