Very favourable indications are now showing in the face in No. 6 level, sfeveral qnartz leaders and spurs having come in. during tlfe last day or two, ftnd it is rfot unlikely the reef nmy be struck within the next two or three shifts. "'The distance driven since survey is between 90 and 100 feet. The tenders of G. Edge and party, was accepted by the Director's on Saturday for tributing between Nos, 4 and 5 levels. They commence work to-day and may possibly be able to put a small parcel of quartz through the mill by the Christmas holidays. GREAT WONDER. This Company have commenced to sink upon the run of gold just off the tunnel oa the eastern side. There is a fair prospect going down. An endeavour is also behig made to cut the line of the run on the surface some distance higher up the lease. CRCESUS. Good headway is being made by the contractors in this company's intermediate level. The reef maintains its uniform thickness, and is carrying very fair gold. A crushing of a quantity of quartz on hand will be commenced to-day, including some | stone Which is being broken out from a portion of the reef over No 1 level. The battery will be kept employed till the end of the month. A good supply of quartz will also very soon be going * forward from the present intermediate level. UNJSB# ITALY. Work in Ifbis mine is at present confined to extension of the cross-cut from Potter's level with the view of intersecting the reef followed in on No. 3 level. The sinking from No. 3 tunnel showed the stone to contain payable prospects, and it was decided to disoofitinueflinking and push on the crosscut "wifcli gr«arte,r speed, as on the reef .being, got t& $b& level it can be worked with greater v facility. The cross-cut has been deviated, so as to. more speedily out the line of reef, which should now be picked up within a distance of between 60 and 80 feet. UNITED VICTORY. , , The contractors completed the No. 2 level 100 feet extension on Thursday, but unfortunately without picking up the reef.
