Fbiday, November 30. A visit to this Company's No. 6 level is sufficient to ati once satisfy one that the permanency of the claim is now fully established. Although only a limited amount of work has yet been done since striking the stone enough is visible to show that a large, body of reef is coming in. About four feet have been driven towards the foot- wall, which so far is not defined, there being a width of three or more feet oi broken quartz, pug, aud soft slate lying below the main body of reef, which has an inclinatipn to. still widen towards the footwall. The quality oi the stone is highly payable, gold being visible in almost every other piece taken, up, and at the lowest estimate should' crusß not less than an oiince per ton. The mine manager is how putting in a wide set of timber so thai when the time arrives the reef may be simultaneously opened out both nortt and south. As soon as work is suffi ciently advanced to ascertain the exact dimensions, &c, of the reef, opening put north will be proceeded with The lode is underlying very rapidly t< the east, which will of course materially increase the actual depth of backs ( which will not be less than 300 feet t< No. 5 level, and probably vary mucl ; more. The accompany are to be con ; gratulated upon their good fortune, a 1 it is now almost a certainty that i '■ very long innings of profitable opera tions will shortly be commenced .by ' them. Of course a deal of work hai yet be done both within and outsid< the mine, before stone can ha operatec ; upon by the battery, but still now tha the permanence of the venture ii ' assured shareholders will readily com< forward with caljs, in order to mow | speedily reap the rich harvest in stbri , for them.
