REEFTON HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the ''eefton Hospital Committee was held at the Southern Cross Hotel on Wednesday evening last^ . Present .Messrs Beeche, (chair) Barr, Byrne^ifaig, Collings, MacquarriesandStito&S*N- v ~^—^^^^^^' Minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Surgeon-Superintendents report was read and adopted. Correspondence : Letter from Mr McLean re £10 deposit — also from Oddfellow's and Foresters Lodges and Reefton band, expressing their willingness to take part in arrangements for carnival at the New Year. Proposed by Mr Collings, seconded by Mr Barr that the correspondence as read be received. Carried. Proposed by Mr Craig, seconded by Mr Macquarrie that the Secretary be instructed to write to Mr M'Lean asking him to forward the money he holds and that they will indemnify him in the matter. Proposd by Mr Macquarrie, seconded by Mr Craig that Messrs Barr, Beeche, Byrne, Collings and Macquarrie be a sub-committee to make arrangements for Hospital Carnival at, the New Year and that the whole Committee take the duties assigned to them by the sub-committee. Carried. The Secretary was instructed to advertise the firgt meeting, and invite delegates from societies and others to meet this Committee at the Southern Cross Hotel on Monday evening next at 8 o'clock. Resolved — that the Secretary be instructed to write to the County Council with regard to the dangerous proximity of the powder magazine to the Hospital and asking them to endeavour to have the same removed. Treasurer's balance £17 4s 6d. Acoounjts presented for payment.

Proposed by Mr Barr, Seconded by Mr Macquarrie that the accounts as read be passed for payment. Carried. Visiting Committee — Messrs Barr, Beeche, and Brennan.
