The -.v stern reef was worked on the surfac-v level by the Just-in Time to within 60 it of the Walhalla boundary, and the stone taken out yeilded close on 6oz. per ton, prospecting was then carried on by sinking ou the south, on the presumption that the strike of the reef was south, which was subsequently proved not to be the case. The eastern reef was then struck aud worked, and the old reef lost sight of. Years of work on the Boatman's lodes has now shown a northerly strike to be the rule. Should the Walhalla be successful in proving the existence of the lode at this level, they have ground comprised in their own original lease and the El Dorado lease — about 700 ft on the line of reef — to work before reaching the Fiery Cross boundary on the north.
