KEEP IT-DARK.
During the last day or two a horse of mullock has come in at the northern end of the low level, reducing the thickness of the reef somewhat. No importance, however, attaches to this circumstance, as the same thing occurred in all the levels overhead, the stone making again in a short distance. Southwards the lode is well formed, and shows a thickness of nearly six feet, the quality of the reef being, if anything, better than that taken from the stopes overhead. The battery was stopped for a short time yesterday, owing to a tree having been blown across the- head race, carrying away two lengths of fluining. The damage has since been repaired. The work of enlarging the race at the inlet is proceeding, and in the course of a day or two the battery will have to be stopped for a week or ten days to enable the race to be deepened, which will necessitate the cutting off of the water.
