METHODIST UNION.
I ♦ We make the following extract from the report of Saturday's sitting of the Wesleyan Conference,, which appears i» the New Zealand Times : — The subject of Methodist Union was resumed this morning, when the exPresident moved the following resolution : — " That the sanction of the General Conference, to be held in Christchurch in November next, be sought to our Churches iv this Colony entering into and carrying out the union proposed, and that for this purpose a statement of the ends sought tobe gained thereby, the negotiations that' have already taken place, and the advantages likely to accrue, be prepared for presentation to the Genen-1 Conference." Seconded by Rev. W. J. Williams, and carried unanimously. Rev. J. Berry said that he accepted his defeat, and took the conclusion arrived at last night as the voice of God. He had proved his sincerity by championing the unpopular side. He would do his best to increase theenthusiasm in favor of union.
