UNITED ALPINE.
Frlday, March 7. The work of opening - out No. 6 level is advancing steadily. ' The reef has' been driven on a length of 130 feet, and there is a splendid body of quartz now showii>g" in the^north face. On Wednesday ' some exetrfleh't speci- * mens were obtained. The width of reef on that day was about eight feet, with every appearance of still widening towards the hanging-wall. The rise recently started, will shortly be high enough for its purpose, and stopes will then be opened north and south About 250 tons of stone are stacked at the mouth of the level, and with the body Of reef now being operated upon a large parcel will be available for the first crushing. The battery is now crushing the tributers' parcel, from which a fair return is expected.
