Ivess, M.H.R., addressed an enthusiastic meeting of electors at the Raikaf town hall last evening. He announced himself as a candidate at the next election. He expressed himself as strongly against further taxation, and was of opinion that the present expenditure on education should be greatly reduced by the reimposition of fees, and a large reduction in the cost of secondary education. Wemjngton, 10. St. Johns Presbyterian Church was totally destroyed by fire yesterday morning. No clue to the origin of the fire has yet been discovered. Mr Hutchinson M.H.R. isajmnounced to reply to the Premier's recent speech at the Theatre Royal, as soon as arrangements can be made. Gisborne, 10. Sir J. Yogel has expressed his willingness to stand for the Kast Coast constituency if there is a general desire that he should do so. He toys he has no intention of remaining permanently in New Zealand, but the position of the Colony is such that he feels he might be able to do some service in Parlia ment during; the next few months. Probably the principal supporters of Mr Locke will induce him to wait till the general election in favor of Sir Julius Yogel. ,
