Owing to the length of our Court report many other local matters are crowded out. We -were advised that the Financial Statement would be wired through last night, but did not reach us up to the hour of going to press. Miß3 Dargon will give her opening .recital in the Oddfellows Hall to-morrow night, and public interest having been fully aroused in her behalf, we have no doubt whatever that she will be greeted with an overflowing house. In the cricket match— Australians v. Cambridge University, the former in their first innings scored 374, and the latter 2< i4. MrJohnßevan is being requisitioned to contest the seat for Hokitika. Sir Julius Yogel will offer himstlf for one of the Wellington seats. The Melbonrne Age expedition to New Guinea has failed, and the party returned.
