At a quarter to 9 this morning at Rangiora the Presbyterian choir were goiu* in an express waggon to a pic-nic at Woodend seabeach, when the train from Christchurch came as the express was crossing the line the driver did not notice it until too kte and the train ran into the exprf ss cutting the horse away, and inflicting frightful injuries on several of the occupants. David Kerr, the son of a well known builder died in a couple of minutes. Mist Maggie Marwell lost an arm and a leg and she has since died, Donald M'Kay, tinsmith, an I two other sons of Kerr are reported also doad, but in consequence of its being a holiday reliable reports are not easily procured. The rumor runs that a few deaths have occurred but possibly this is an exaggeration.
