POLITICAL PROSTITUTION.
(To the Editor, Inan<*ahua Times J Sir — In politics, as in other matters, I submit, every man has a proper right to vindicate and forward the interests of the party to which lie ia attached, providing he dots so in an honorable and legitimate manner. Hut when we find men who blow h<»t anil cold ; men who run with the hart and hun,t -with -the hounds — we despise them, and they are deservedly held tin conteiftpt by all parties. A traitor is a< thing vilo and loathsome in .the sii?ht of all men and a reproach to any society who countenances them. No man should join issue to any party if he bo such a base coward as not to. publicly maintain the position he haa/cliosen. Yet such characWrff (not lfami) there are amongst Us" who at the same time blow " hot and cold," who attend political caucus meetings of one party, and agree to the propo* sitions and resolutions proposed and passed at such meetings, and pledge then)-— (not honour, for honour they have {jot none) — word to abide by the deoisioivof said meeting, and immediately go and 1 forswear their pledged word and attend the meetings y of tlie opposing party, and act thd tr&i&flr' to-' their former professed allegiance. Such miscreants, no niatfer what party they really belong to, are con-
temptible in the eyes of all right thinking men, and should be reprobated by all who possess a spark of honors or manliness, apcssh«nned as the most ba*a, lo&hsoitip, and dangerous specimens of the human family. Yea, even more dangerous than dynamitards or cut-throat assassins . ■' : - -'V-.-, I am, etc., ■ n ' Jack Blpnt. Reefton, December 20th, 1884.
