ANOTHER JOB.
(To the Editor, Imanoabua Tqces.)
Sir. — Is it cheap timber for Boatman's, or is it votes. I see by your paper that at the last meeting of the County Council an-mptication was made by Mr Cochrane for £160, or thereabouts, for making road to _$• saw raili, and hia reason for so doing is that it would be the means of reducing timber by some seven shillings per hundred feet to the Boatman's people. If this be so, and our Councillors can see their way clear to sjrant this sum to Mr Cochrane, how does it come about that when Mr Main made application some time ago to the County Council to a.-u;->t in making some ten or twelve chains of mad to his mill, and he would bear half the expense himself, that cheap timber was not considered. At that time it appears that cheap timber was of very little importance then, and a few people would like to know if it is not the live or six votes for our Council, and not cheap timber, that ia the consideration at the present time. lam Ac, Query .
