Friday, April 3. About the only featm-e to notice since last visit is the final completion ef the rise from No. 6, which was taken over by the company on Thursday last. Starting from the floor of Ne, 6, to the cap is a height of 8 feet ; from there, for a distance of 58 feet upwards, that portion of the rise was constructed by the conpany ; then the contractors, Accolinaand party, took the work, and carried it up to No. 5, their distance being 225 feet, and thns making the length of the rise, over all, —291 feet It will be a lasting piece '
of work, and furnishes the maiu essential facility necessary for the mine on such a seal«, as the size of the reef, and the extent of the crashing plant, demand. Above No. 4, the hands are pushing the rise op ia solid ground, and about 70 feet should see them on the surface. Inside all the passes and shoots are logged and carried «p the fall height The varioas oat-doer werks are well forward, and" most of them almost completed. New sleepers and iron rails down along the flat tramway, and the tnnnel at the lower end being retimbered. A few heavy stringers under portion of the lower incline, will comple c the werk of making it fit for years to come Excellent headway ia being made down at the battery, and the contractor for erecting the new Machine is making a good show : the wheel is in position, and the colnmn, which stands about 40 feet vertical, will be set up by the end of this • week. A full description of the plant will be giren on completion. The high scaffolding formerly used for leading the flaming on to the overshot, is also entirely done away with* and instead of that, the boxes will be laid in the side of the spur: much safer and less liable to breakage, la the upper portion of the lease, the tribators, Bnrns and party, hive tbeir tunnel in 110 feet on the leader, which has been very regular and averages between 8 and 4 inebea, with payable gold all the way. Two rises are now being put op, preparatory to blocking out They have erected a substantial shoot and paddock down at No. 4 level, and have upwards of 30 toss of quartz to grass.
