NEW GOLD SAVING PROCESS.

Mr Lamont, whose process of gold saving is said to be vastly superior to that generally in use oh the goldfieldg of the colony, passed through Auckland by the mail steamer Zcalandia on his way from California to Australia. To euahln it to b« understood what is claimed for his system, we may state that it is estimated that the present method of quartz crushing saves only 3.') per cent of the gold in the stone when it is flue, and up to about 60 per cent when the gold is coarse and shotty. Mr Lamont claims that his system Raves 96 per cent of the gold. Mr Lamont on being inter-view<-d on tlie steamer stated that proposals had been made to him to sell his rights to a company who should have the titla to resell to any mine or battery company. Mr Lamont hewever stated that lift had determined to do nothing till he returns from Australia which will he in a few weeks. Some of those interested are anxious that the Government should take, up the matter and secure the rights so that they shall be free to all ou payment of a moderate sum.
