The principal work in progress at this mine is driving to connect the chamber with the lode. The entire distance to gt was only some thirty odd fent, about a third of which it now corar pleted. As soon as this work is out of ' hand the mine will be effectually ■ opened up, and the area of stone thus j rendered available will provide abun- ■ dance of work for the stampers. The ! height of backs famished by the lerel I now going ia is ab#ut 130 ft.
