Oar Wellington correspondent telegraphs that the business of the session is not likely to be finished before Tuesday, j as it is proposed to deal with the Land Bill and other measures. The report of the Special Auditor appointed to enquire into the accounts of the Inangahua County Council, will engage the attention of Parliament to-day. Mr Fitzgerald, Auditor-General, disallows £1522 7s 6d expended by the Council, as illegal ; and a further sum of 1762 5s 7d as being of doubtful legality. Further particulars will be found in our telegrams. We publish this morning in our advertising column*, the Robin Hood Company's programme on the forthcoming races. The share list will positively close on the 30th October next. There was a very fair attendance at the Presbyterian Church on Friday evening last, when the Rev. P. R. Monro, of Westport,* delivered his lecture entiMed " The Christian Utopia," a digest of which will be published in our next issue. At the conclusion of the lecture Mr G. B. Shepherd proposed, and Mr Maclean l seconded, "That a hearty vote of thanks i be accorded to the Rev. Mr Monro for his very able and interesting lecture." The motion was carried unanimously. A coli lection was made on behalf of the Building 1 fund. Rehearsals for the forthcoming concert in aid of the Catholic School. Reefton, will commence on Monday. Ladies and gentlemen who have promised to assist ara informed that Mrs Hugo, who has kindly consented to pUy the accompaniments, will attend every evening after 7 o'clock, to play over any accompaniments that may be required. We learn that the Secretary of the Inangahun Rifles has applied on behalf of the Company for arms and accoutrements for sixty-two men. The application has been forwarded to Lieutenant Spence, Officer commanding the district, Hokitika. A telegram having been received by Captain Burnham from Mr Menteath, M.H.R., stating that the Government had been pleased to allow the formation of a Cadet corps of Rifle Volunteers in Reefton, a meeting was held during the early part of last week, «nd fifty members were enrolled. The first drill was held on Friday last, forty-eight members being present. The following officers were elected :- -Captain Burnham, Lieut. Dowling, Sub-Lieut. A. Kat.er, junr., ColorSergeant J. Jacobson, Sergeants, J. Pat* tenon, W. Slattery, D. Rnu and E. M« Dowell. Very close competition ensued between Kater and Jacobson for the position of Left guide, the former being elected by one vote. German chartographers have issued a new map of the Western Pacific, constructed to show the region included in the administration of the New Guinea Company. The total area of New Guinea is estimated by them at 305,000 square miles, of which the German protectorate embraces 68,785 square miles, the English protectorate 86,360 square miles, and Dutch New Guinea 150,755 square miles. The German New Guinea Company has sent orders by cable to its officers to break up the factory established by Dr Finsch at Bently Bay, near East Cape, as that territory hat been [assignor! by treaty to England.
