M INING NEWS.
[From our Mining Rkportbr] Saturday, September 26. The following are the battery returns for the past week. United Alpine (Lyell)— GlOozs of amalgam from 220 tons of stune. Inkerman — 345(»zs of amalgam from 490 tons of stone, (uiue days crushi»g> Keep it-Dark— 3860zs of amalgam for week, (including boxes for the month). FIERY CEOSS EXTENDED. This Company ceased crushing about midday on Saturday, but the returns are not y«:t to hand. The poppet heads are nearly completed, and work will probably be resumed in in the mine to-day. WELCOME. The Minn Manager has hands en* gaged at the flue in laying earthenware pipes, and securing generally. Work will probably be commenced in the mine about the same time as the arrival of the crank shaft from Greymouth. It will take about nine days to prepare the same for the engine.
