This company let a contract for the extension of the low level tunnel south, the distance already driven being 50ft At tli-s point the strata altered its underlay to the westward, which induced tne manager to discontinue the level pro tern, and started a crosscut to the west, in the hope of getting the reef which has beeu worked for a considerable distance on the Imperial I level. The present workings are being carried on about 160 ft. below the level of Boatman's Creek. The formation in this particular locality would make a good study for some of our geological scientists, inasmuch as to the south of Boatman's Creek all rock formations havf a westerly underlie, while to the north of the creek the strata underlays to the east
