scribed. The ladies are working and making clothing for the sufferers.
A grand chess tournament has been arranged towards the relief of the sufferers. New Plymouth, 11. Another outburst of tire occurred near Ngaire. Soutlny and Willey's saw mills is in great danger, also Mr Hiison's dwelling house. A special train left here this evening for NgairH with volunteers to render assistance in putting out the fire, and protecting property. A strong southerly breeze is Mowing at Stratford, which is very serious but it is hoped that rain will soon come. 24 hours rain would completely extinguish the fire, and until this occurs the outlook is bad. Auckland 12. At a public meeting in the Chamber of Commerce, to consider means of relief of the sufferers by the hash fire in Taranaki, the Mayor presided. A strong committee wag formed, of which the Mayors of boroughs are to be exofficio members to define districts and collect subscriptions.
Mr James Kidd, senior, of Airerale, Inglevood, states that the los 3 of settlers amounts to £12.000.
