Fkihat April, 9. There is no change in the reef or any of the stopes during the past week. The stone taken from the mine during the month is a fair average, being from stope No. 1 south to stope No. 17 stope has been started, but very little work has been done so far, the reef looking well. No. 10 stope, now being : worked, shown a width of 50 feet. No. 6 level has been driven a total distance, of 142 feet towa.ids the north Mock, leaving 48 feet to l>e driven to ' complete the distance, according to ■ survey, where the stone should be struck. There has l«een some time lost with No. 6 level during the month owing to logging- up the main pass and ' tilling in operations, thereby causing a scarcity of good air in level. The contractors for the water -race tunnel : have holed through, and expect to I complete their contract in a few days, j At the battery cleaiimg*up operations took plnce on Wednesday, after which the retorting gave the result of 891ozs of gold from 955 tous of stone treated.
