Resolved on the motion of Cr Craig that the application of the Hanipden Library Committee for a subsidy of £30 stand over till next meeting.

From W. Cummings, Secretary Reefton Mining Institute, asking for subsidy of £50.

Moved by Cr Gardner, seconded by Cr Craig that a subsidy of £30 be granted.

Amendment by Cr Campbell that £50 be granted to the Mining Institute at once, to be refunded in six mouth's time.

From A. Cereseto complaining of damage to his property through water let into the Broadway sewer.

From Mrs Bingley, claiming £3 for damage done to child's clothing through falling off a log bridge over cemetery creek. Also from C. H. Morris and a number of the residents in the locality praying that a hand bridge be erected over the creek.

Cr Campbell moved and Cr Twohill seconded that the request of Mr Morris and others be granted.

Amendment by O Craig, seconded by Cr. Duncan that a safe footbridge be erected over Cemetery Creek.. Amendment carried.

Resolved that Mrs Bringley's claim be not entertained.

From W. Hunter, Hampden, complaining of the track from Horse terroce to Matakitika plain, and urging that LlO be expended thereon.

Matter ordered to stand over till re turn of the Engineer from Hampden.

From Maloney, claiming L4O compensation for use of track through his land, Antonios, and threatening to stop traffic unless the claim was paid. Matter referred to Engineer for report. From Ba'clutha County Council, re rabbit pest, and inviting co operation in the suppression theieof. From Christchuroh Corporation, re posting bills on telegraph poles, and inviting cooperation to prevent same From J. Caslane, complaining of the state of the track up the Maruia, and stating that he would hold the Council responsible for any injury sustained by his horses. Matter referred to Engineer. From A. J. Bieen re Pound. From F. Walker, asking for remis sion of rates upon property destroyed by fire. — Deferred for consideration. From J. Barrowman, resigning his position as Returning Officer for the Reefton Riding. Also from the same withdrawing resignation.

From Grey County Council re bridge over Big Grey, and requesting co-ope-lation in reference thereto.

From Thos. O'Rourke, and Buxtou & Co, re dishonoured bills

From G. W. Moss, enclosing £2 17s (jd, being half cost of track near Fkry Orosa battery.

I?rom E. J. O'Conor, re boundary between Buller and Inangabua Counties, and stating that the Property Tax map of same was uot to be relied on.

Moved by Cr Gardner, seconded by Cr Campbell and carried, that the Government be requested to define the boundary in question.

From Mines Department re grant towards construction of track to Lone Star reef.

From Surveyor-General, stating that the Government had agreed to spend ,£SOO in widening Matakitaki road.

From Colonial Secretary, re codlin moth, and asking for suggestions as to the suppression of the [test.

From Public Works Department, re tarring Inangahua bridge at Reefton, and stating that tarring could not be undertaken until the bridge was put in repair, and also complaining that the Council had neglected to keep the bridge in proper repair since being handed over to them.

From D. Cocbrane & Co, re state of track to Big River, and asking that men be put on to make it passable for machinery.

Resolved on the motion of Cr Gardner, seconded by Cr Craig, that the request be complied with. It was further resolved on the motion cf Cr M'Ginley, that the Chairman and Cr Twohill vi^it tliH road and put men on.

A discussion hern ensued regarding the absence of the County Engineer, at Hampden. Cr Camp'iell mov«d that the meeting be adjourned until the return of that ofiiccr. This was not seconded. Moved l»y Cr Campbell, seconded l»y Cr Gardner and carried — That the Engineer on his return at once meafitire up the metal broken on the Grey road, and have it spread, in accordance with the specifications. Cr Gardner referred to the diamond drill, asking a number of questions in reference thereto, and concluded by moving that th« drill be brought from Boatman's and stored in Reefton. Cr Campbell seconded the motion, which was put and carried. Resolved that box drains be placed across the road near Wei jome battery, also near end of road up Little Boatman's. Resolved on the motion of Cr Campbell that the drift wood above the crossing at Burkes Creek be removed. Resolved on the motion of Cr Duncan that culvert near Coutanche'g farm be repaired. Resolved that culvert near Coghlan's premises, Boatman's, be widened 4ft. Resolved on the motion of Cr Dunenn, seconded by the Chairman, that the Engineer report upon the praeti cubiiky and cost of a track from An* tonios t<> the Big River rush ; also a track from the Grey road to Mossy Creek.
