The sitting of the District Court will open at 10 o'clock this morning. There is only one case Bet down for hearing, tbat, of Lecky v. Campbell. Lists of contributories will be presented for settlement in the winding-up proceedings of tbe Morning Star, Orlando, and other companies. There is also some bankruptcy business. In the case of Patterson v. Campbell, heard in the Magistrate's Court on Friday 1 last, and partly reported in our Friday's issue, the plaintiff abandoned the action befoJe the hearing was concluded. Upon tbe defendant beiug called and examined Mr Moynihan, who appeared for plaintiff, stated tbat his client was satisfied he had brough the action under a wrong ussuroptiou. It was believed that the sale to Campbell was a collusive one, but the evidence did not support that belief. Defendant's title appeared to be thoroughly bona fide, and under these circumstances plaintiff did not wish to proceed any further. Judgment was accordingly entered for defendant with costs. In the case of ( Chattock v. Paine, claiming L 3 for trespass of pigs, judgment was given for plaintiff for 30s and costs. Mr North for plaintiff. In the case of Campbell v. Lecky, the judgment of the Court was in favor of plaintiff. We publish this morning the programme of the concert to be held at the Public School, Black's Point, on Friday evening next, in aid of the scholars' prize fund. The bill for the evening is an unusually I'jng and interesting one, and as the committee have acceded to the general wish to have a dance at the conclusion of the concert, a very large gathering may be expected. Mr Deck, snrgeon-dentist, of Greymouth, has arrived in Reefton, and may be consulted at the private rooms in rear of Mr Hindmarsh's office, formerly occupied by Mr Gilbert, dentist. Entrance from Broadway, or from right-of-way off Smith-street. Mr Deck's stay will be short, so that those desiring to consult liim should call early. The annual ordinary general meeting of shareholders of the Fiery Cross Extended Quartzmining Company was (says tbe Argus) held at Greymouth, on Wednesday last. The following gentlemen were elected derectors for the year : — Messrs J, Barkley, F. Campbell, T. Watson, F. Gleeson, and T. M'Loughlin. Messrs F. W. Lahinan and J. Hogg, were re-elected auditors. Power was given to the directors to let the worked portions cf the claim on tribute should they deem it advisable. It was resolved that the directors be requested to call an extraordinary meeting to alter rule 36, so as to make the number of directors seven instead of five, and the quorum four.
