PROSPECTUS OF THE TTNITED DEVONSHIRE GOLD i U MINING OOMPANY, Limited. Capital; L 6.000, in 30,000 Shares, of 4s ; Each. I Provisional Directory : r \V. Irving Mr Davih Y^fing, Mr : . Moncriefe Mr H. Campbrll, \lrD. Matheson MrJ. MWlastMiW, B.mke::* ; National Bank of New Z .i'.-*n«l, Limited. H. G. Hanki..-, Secretary. The Registered office of the Company is to be in Reefton. The property proposed to he worked is , comprised in a quartz minim; le»8u «»f 104 acre*, situate hi Aiicloi'sou'h Hill, in tho Inanif.ilniii district, and em I •races twoweil ; known gold- hearing mines that some thirteen years a<so were in full work, and in a flourishing condition, viz., the Anderson's Creek and Invincible Gold Mining Companies, Registered. The former mimi 1 about 7,000, and the latte« company under 1,000 tons of quartz which yielded respectively a tjeneral aver ■ au'ecif 19dwts 12grs, ami % 23.1wts 7sj[rß p«r j ton, while both declared dividends only to the extent of L 1.600, a lircumstance attributable primarily to the very hitrh cost of production, wa^'es then ruling at from L5 to L 4 per w»\k, while crushing I was 303 per ton, which, together with a very marked absence <-f quartz mining experience, combined witli the «evere monetary depression then prevailing, led first to a temporary cessation of work, resulting subsequently in the cancellation by the Crown of the mining leases, for non-ob-servance of the covenants, and finally culminating in the voluntary winding up, aud abandonment of the mines by the companies. Such is tho brief history of j the companies wh'> occupied the ground it is now proposed to work. And now, in reference to the latter proposal, there need be no doubt entertained with regard to the existence of larsre quantities of highly payable quartz throughout the leasehold, tho knowledge of which ! prompted the present proprietary (several i of whom were large shareholders in the i original companies, and likewise worked i in the mines, and are cognizant of the j presence of stone), to secure a title to the ; ground and re-open the mines, which can I be effected at a small expenditure, both tunnels and shaft,-! being available with slight repairs ti shortly enable quantities of stone to be bnmght to grass. A battery of 15 head of stampers is immediately contiguous and available by the construction <>f a few chains i»f tramway, at which crushing can be executed at a cost of say 10s per ton. i In view of such facts (the accuracy of ; which cannot be refuted), the value of the j venture as an investment must commend itself to the most sceptical, as being exceptionally sound. More especially when the right of participation in the undertaking involves so small an outlay, coupled with a minimum of risk, as provided by the terms of the limit of liability ; the present proprietors having decided to offer 24.000 shares in tho open market, at a premium of four pence per share, thus affording the public an opportunity of participating (at a small cost) in one of the most promising and legitimate mining ventures in the district. The work of opening up the stone will be commenced forthwith, when all the shares not then allotted will be withdrawn from the markot. \ pplicatious for shares to be made n the attached form, through the company's bankers, or auv authorised sharebrokur, or to the Secretary, in which latter case to be accompanied by a nrarked cheque, or P.O. order.
