Apropos of the recent rowdy proceedings in the N.S.W. Parliament, a Sydney contemporary states that the following petition is about to he presented : "To the honorable tin* members of the Legislative Assembly of New South Wales. The humble petition of Laurence Foley, professor of science, Sydney, respectfully showeth : That yonr petitioner on certain days in the week is in the habit of giving lectures, accompanied l>y demonstrations and pratical illus» trationa on the application of pure science to the laws of self-defence. That these lectures have been largely attended by students desirious of mental and physical improvement
