BUSINESS OF PARLIAMENT.
The schedule of business of the House of fc Representative* during the session shows that 23 select committees were appointed ; 177 public bills were introduced, 81 ot which received the Royal assent, one has been reserved for Her Majesty's assent, and 95 were dropped or otherwise disposed of; one private bill was passed; 470 petitions were presented from Europeans, and 73 from Maoris ; 393 divisions were taken ; 663 formal questions were asked of Ministers, and 1325 entries were made in the Journals ; 226 papers were laid upon the table ; and 612 reports were received from select committees. The Honse sat on 78 days, the average daily length of sitting being 9hrs lOmin.
