FISHING COMPETITION.
TRIANGULAR CONTEST. A triangular fishing competition was held on the Mimihau stream yesterday between teams representing the Southland, Wyndham and Mataura Angling Clubs, resulting in a victory for the Mataura Club by 91bs. Wyndham was second, beating Southland bv the smsdl margin of 4oz. The day w.s rather bright, but nevertheless Konie g<vd catches were recorded. The arrangements were carried out by the members of the Mataura Club, an 1 th<> visit ing anglers experienced a very pleasant time. The following ar e tr,o detailed catches:— MATAURA. W. Allison (Venlaw), five fish. ICib lloz; 1). McGowan (Thorniiill), 13 fish. 111b 6oz; W. Anderson .Gorg-), lour fish, 41b 8oz; R. Allison (Lowo), four fish, 41b looz. Total: 26 fish, I'llb tV„;. WYNDHAM. Kingsland (Gorge), eight fish, 81b 4oz; Leitch (Venlaw), 14 fish, 71b lOoz; Mitchell (Thomhill), three fish, 21b 2oz: Melrose (Lower), five fish, 41b 12oz. Total: 30 fish, 221b 12oz. SOUTHLAND. J. Aitken (Gorge), eight fish, Shi U.z; Lyons, nil; A. Tapper (Venlaw), 71 fish, 121b 12oz (heaviest basket); T. Ikldan (Thomhill), three fish, lib loz. Total: 24 fish, 221b Boz.
