* [united pbess association.] Auckland, January 31. The scuttled ship Leading Wind has been raised and was towed to a berth at Queen-street wharf this morning. She is only partially pumped out, there being still six or eight feet of water m the bold. Pumping is still going on and the ship will be discharged and docked for examination. New Plymouth, January 30. Boring operations at petroleum works are going on steadily, and good indications of oil have been obtained. Double shifts will be started next week, and the manager expects to be down 1,000 feet m about sis weeks. The bore is down 240 ieet m sandstone strata, and oil is now seen floating on the surface of the water brought up from 240 feet, and better indications are being obtained every day.
